University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine from Bucharest
signed a memorandum with Auburn University
The academic community of the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 has received the visit of the representatives of 𝐀𝐮𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐦𝐚, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Educational & Research Cooperation.
On this ocassion we had the honour to have with us present the 𝐔𝐒 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚, 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐜.
The visit took place in the context of the strategic partnership between the USA and Romania in the field of defense for the implementation of the Sister Cities program between the port cities of Constanta, Romania and Mobile, Alabama. The partnership contributes to our goals in terms of common research topics between Auburn University, Alabama and USAMV Bucharest, having topics of interest such as irrigation, biosystems and agricultural engineering, agronomy, integrated pest management, horticulture, environment, animal husbandry.
In the welcome speech, Mr. Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu, Rector of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the two universities in order to consolidate a sustainable education: ”I want to point of the fact that international collaboration on research projects, person-to-person exchanges and joint academic programs is a growing area of activity that we should prioritise. Increased collaboration between us, both formally and informally, is something that we should be proactive about, and perhaps most importantly, it is something that we should encourage our staff, our academics and our students to prioritise as far as possible.”
Her Excellency the 𝐔𝐒 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚, 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐜, pointed out the importance of this agreement.
This partnership has facilitated numerous exchanges and joint activities between our military forces, government agencies, civil society organizations, and now educational institutions. It has also fostered personal ties and friendships that enrich our cultures and values. I would like to congratulate both universities for their vision and commitment to this partnership. I am confident that this agreement will open new doors for cooperation and benefit both sides. I look forward to seeing the results of your joint projects and initiatives in the near future.”
